What are rim protectors?

Rim protectors (also called curb-rash guards or alloy rim edge protectors) are add-on strips or rings that sit on the outer lip of a wheel. Their job is to take scrapes from curbs, parking stops, and tight turns so the alloy face takes less damage.

Common types

  • Adhesive strip / trim — peel-and-stick edge pieces that follow the rim lip. Often DIY-friendly; check surface prep.
  • Clip-in / snap-on — rings or segments that clip to the rim edge without glue (fitment varies by wheel).
  • Pro-fit / bead-insert — rings installed between tire bead and rim (often needs tire deflation or a shop). More permanent feel; install skill matters.
